Employment opportunities and job roles in the media sector
Film - Films are what the producers make it is a very popular thing and lots of people do watch movies. There are different genres of movies as well so that they aren't all the same and they are: Horror, Drama, Thriller, Sci-fiction, Historical, Spy Fiction, Adventure, Comedy, Crime, Fantasy and many more. Movies are shown in the cinema and also are shown at homes but some of them you have to pay for. Lots of people are involved in film, in 2012, there were 70,000 people working in the UK film industry and I'm sure that there is a lot more around the world now. The film industry earn around about 83.billion which is a really big amount.
In film there is lots of things that you can get yourself involved in for example you can be a director, producer or a writer. These jobs can be really hard to get as you would need really good qualifications to be involved, the jobs that you could get yourself involved is a director where you would see what scenes go first and in what order so that it all works, directors normally start to work about 4-5 month before the movie actually begins to get shot its the main job for creating a movie. A movie director normally earns around £80,830 pear year which is a really big amount of money. Movie directors normally work for 10 hours a day which is a lot of time as you would have so much to do with it being one of the main jobs in creating a movie. I would say that being a director would be one of the most interesting thing to do while creating a movie. Another job that you can get in film is you can be the writer who just writes the script and what sort of action they do. For a script writer in 2013 they earned around £11,000 which is a lot of money for writing scripts. The hours that they work are different depending what you are doing for example if you are a home base freelance write you would choose your working hours, if you were apart of the studio-based writing team you would then be more likely to work standard office hours. In any of them cases you would often have strict deadlines to meet.
To be apart of the film industry it would be good to have a degree in business or film studies as it would be useful for it. For this job you would have to be very creative as you might have the job at making the script or even helping the actors/actresses by telling them what to do and how to say it etc. For the film industry you would need to know how to use a camera for if you are recording the movie and so that you know what exactly you are doing. You can do work experience before you actually get involved to get more of an idea of what you do and to prepare you for the real thing. I found out about film and video editing that it ins't a starting role in the industry and that it is also common for students or graduates to gain some experience in a role such as a runner. But may also build up the experiences in other areas of media production before moving into editing.

The radio has lots of different things on it for example they talk about different things that may of happened on that day, they do interviews and they also show music which they sometimes as people to text them with the song that they want to listen to. Radio was first invented in 1895 by a young lad called Gugliemo Marconi and radio earns around 130 billion globally. Over 500,000 work for the radio industry which is a really big amount.
Radio is just basally a broadcast that is shown for everyone to listen to in the world, you can listen to it on the internet or you can listen to it on the television. You would have to have a funny sense of humor as the radio can be quiet funny at times and you don't really want to make it sound boring. If you take part in either an apprenticeship or a degree course then this would make you much more noticeable and you will have more of a change to get involved in the radio industry. For the radio I found out that it would be recommended that you had a HND or foundation degree that is also sometimes possible, but you will need considerable relevant experiences in programme making that is often gained through voluntary work.
